Makerere University Students Invented Monitoring System for COVID-19 Patients

Makerere University engineering students have come up with a device that will monitor a patient’s medical condition and prevent the contraction of a fatal coronavirus.

CEDAT students presented their ideas on how to improve the safety and comfort of medical personnel by developing a device that would allow them to perform their duties more effectively.

Brian Ebiau, along with his teammates, presented their invention which is targeting people in isolation centres

Betty Mirembe one of the team members said that they have worked on a device that can help people with chronic diseases avoid getting too much exposure to harmful situations.

“We want to develop a system which mixes the two; Timely medicine delivery, while relaying the patient symptom data to the medical personnel. We designed a circuit and a system software and integrated the two to come up with a prototype that is functional,” Mirembe said.
